Want to be a Mentor?

Being a Christian youth mentor for at risk kids requires a call from God. Most Christian mentors do not understand the true impact of this ministry until many years of commitment. It is typical for us to see incredible results and for the mentor to say, "I did not do anything."This is not really a true statement because they did do something very

significant. They made a commitment to spend 2-4 hours with a child each week and then they prayed up and showed up. I certainly understand theirdumbfounded declaration, "I did not do anything."

They cannot see the connection between the time they spent with a child and the results. It does not add up. However, what we often miss is the fact that this is divine math. Our one, plus His One equals a lot.

The good news is that God cares much more than we ever could. These at risk children are His kids. When we get prayed up and show up, He shows up with us. God the Father loves these at risk kids through us. We do not see this transaction, nor do we need to. As it is in any ministry, we are called to faithfulness, not success. God takes care of the success.
